A MESSAGE FROM YOUR GOVERNING BODY

December 2018

As the new Chair of Governors, I hope to keep you aware of what the Governing Body do by writing to parents and carers through the end of term newsletter.

It has been a busy term and we have:-

  • said goodbye to a valued member of the team in Samantha O’Connor and welcomed Stuart Forgan as a new parent governor
  • welcomed Dave Oldridge as a Local Authority Governor
  • had 4 evening meetings during which we have monitored standards in school and discussed the impact of new strategies to enhance the education of the children, and investigated the limitations of the school budget to ensure best value for money
  • visited the school to support the Head to appoint the new caretaker, maternity cover in Y3/4 and undertaken a safeguarding termly meeting and also link Governor meetings for Maths, Catholic Life and Special Needs.
  • attended masses, assemblies, Harvest Festival and the Christmas Concert,
  • undertaken training for induction, induction for new Chair of Governor, OFSTED preparation by the whole team
  • agreed the inclusion of and welcomed 6 new children and their families to the school
  • met fortnightly for Head teacher and Chair of Governor ongoing discussions
  • discussed and researched the academisation agenda as set out by the Archbishop of Birmingham

As you can see, the role of a Governor is wide, varied and demanding, but in a school like ours, also very rewarding. I would like to thank all the Governors for the time and commitment they give so generously to the school on a voluntary basis. During the Christmas concerts, I hope you have been able to complete a questionnaire to help us to listen to what us going well and what we can work on to make our school even better.

On behalf of the Governing Body, I wish you and your families a very happy and holy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
