Sport and PE are a valued part of life at St Mary’s Catholic School. We want every child to experience the joy of being active, develop physical skills and grow in character through sport. Our PE curriculum and enrichment opportunities help pupils to build agility, coordination and stamina, while also learning important values such as teamwork, perseverance, self-discipline and respect.
We offer a wide range of opportunities for pupils to take part in physical activity across the week. As well as high-quality PE lessons, children can enjoy clubs, festivals and competitions, including football, netball and athletics in the summer. We are proud to promote positive sporting behaviour and encourage all pupils to challenge themselves, celebrate progress and show good sportsmanship.
We also prioritise active lunchtimes to help children build healthy habits and enjoy movement every day. Through games, activities and play, pupils are supported to be active, social and engaged, contributing to wellbeing, confidence and a healthy, active lifestyle.
The document below explains how we use the PE and Sport Premium funding to strengthen provision, broaden opportunities and increase participation, particularly for children who may be less active. You’ll find information about how Sport Premium spending is planned and evaluated to make a lasting impact.
