Our nursery class is the perfect pre-school environment to launch your little learner’s school career
A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances and attitude to learning. Children in Reception and Nursery follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to provide a safe and stimulating curriculum and develop the whole child in readiness for the rest of their school life.
We can provide full-time nursery provision but are flexible and provide various term-time sessions:
| Full Day | 8.30am – 3.20pm (8.30am until 2.30pm - this can be arranged for 30 hour entitlement if required - please speak to the office) | 6Hrs 50min | £40.00 |
| Morning Session | 8.30am – 11:30am | 3Hrs | £17.50 |
| Lunch Club/ (Additional afternoon extension for 30 hour entitlement) | 11:30am until 12:20pm | 50min | £5.00 |
| Afternoon Session | 12.20pm-3.20pm | 3Hrs | £17.50 |
Paid session costs apply for any sessions in excess of funded hours.
A day in our EYFS nursery setting:
We welcome the children into the classroom at 8.30 am and then dismiss the children at 3.20 pm unless they are accessing different sessions (see table above for half-day and lunch timings).
Break Time, Snack and Lunch Time:
We normally have a morning and afternoon break time, where the children get the opportunity to play on the school playground or on the field. After the morning playtime, we gather together to enjoy a piece of fruit and milk while we encourage communication and social development.
Our paid lunch club is between 11:30 am and 12.20 pm and includes a school meal. Lunchtime menus can be obtained from this website or the school office.
If parents choose to take their full 30 hour entitlement as 8.30am until 2.30pm then an additional 50 minutes (paid for) can be added on to the sessions so that children finish at 3.20pm at the normal end of the school day.
Teaching and the Learning Environment:
All Nursery children will access adult-led sessions, independent learning time and an engaging indoor and outdoor environment. The adult-led session will support the children’s speaking, listening and attention skills and early maths.
Uniform and PE Kit:
We encourage nursery children wear the same uniform and PE kit as the rest of the school so that they feel a full sense of belonging. We endeavour to plan PE sessions so that all nursery children access at least one PE session per week. The children also have constant access to the outdoor environment to continue their physical development.
We have second hand uniform available at the school office which is free to any family who needs it.
Starting Nursery:
Please contact the school office for registration forms – once we receive your completed admissions documents, we will confirm spaces and be in contact to arrange ‘settling in sessions’. Parents are welcome to stay with their child during the first settling-in session. However, if you feel your child would be comfortable to come in independently, we can accommodate this. We understand that every child is an individual, so we work closely with parents to ensure the settling-in period is as seamless as possible for both the child and the parents.
