Admissions

St Mary’s Catholic Primary & Nursery school provides a warm and welcoming setting in which the whole community thrives. Our focus is on promoting positive behaviour and an exciting school experience and we have a caring team of staff who all work hard to deliver this and give all the children the opportunities they deserve.

Nursery:
We accept a new cohort of nursery pupils each term when 3 year olds become eligible to access to universal 15 hour, or extended 30 hour funding. To bridge the gap between the child’s 3rd birthday and the start of funding, an early start via payable sessions may be available – please get in touch to find out more.

Nursery applications are made directly to the school, please contact us to apply. To find out more or arrange a tour, please visit our nursery page: https://stmaryssoutham.org.uk/nursery/

School Aged Children:
All Reception and In-Year Applications are processed through Warwickshire County Council: https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/admissions. However, because we are a faith school, we ask you to also complete our Supplementary Information Form. This should be attached to your online application to Warwickshire County Council but can alternately be returned directly to the school. If a Supplementary Information Form is not submitted directly to the school this may affect the priority given to the application and could affect the likelihood of your child being offered a place.

The Application Process
St Mary’s Catholic Primary School is part of the Local Authority’s In-Year Co-ordinated admissions scheme.

St Marys Admissions Policy 2024-25

(for admissions policy 2023-24 POLICY see here)

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are available places. An application should be made via the local authority by completing the in-year admissions application form which is available from https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/moving-schools-within-school-year. As we are a Catholic School, parents will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form in addition to the standard application form that is submitted to the local authority. Supplementary Information Forms can be obtained from the school’s website or a hard copy can be provided on request by contacting the school office on 01926 812 512 or [email protected]. Supplementary Information Forms must be returned either attached to your online application to Warwickshire County Council or directly to the school. If a Supplementary Information Form is not submitted this may affect the priority given to the application and could affect the likelihood of your child being offered a place.

The local authority will allocate places on the basis of available vacancies in each year group at the school and the school’s determined oversubscription criteria.

Where there are places available but more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the admission policy will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If there are no places available, the local authority will notify you of this decision on behalf of the governors and the child will be added to the waiting list. Please see the admission arrangements for more details regarding waiting lists.

You will be advised of the outcome of your application in writing as soon as possible.

You have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel if your application is unsuccessful.

If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions please contact the school office. You may also wish to discuss in-year applications with the local authority [email protected].
